The Rhodesian African Rifles (RAR) was the oldest regiment in the Rhodesian Army, formedin May 1940 in the British colony of Southern Rhodesia. The RAR was the successor to the Rhodesia Native Regiment (RNR) and inherited its battle honours. The RNR had fought in East Africa and Portuguese East Africa from 1916 to 1918 during World War 1.
