The Rhodesian giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis thornicrofti) is one of nine subspecies of giraffe. It is also known as Thornicroft’s giraffe and Luangwa giraffe. It is considered to be geographically isolated, occurring only in Zambia’s South Luangwa Valley. An estimated 1,500 live in the wild, with no captive populations.
