Rishton is a township in the Hyndburn district of Lancashire, England, about 2 miles (3 km) west of Clayton-le-Moors and 4 miles (6 km) north-east of Blackburn. It was an urban district from about 1894 to 1974.Rishton was the first place that the cloth calico was woven on an industrial scale. Its name means "village (or farm) amid the rushes".
