Samuel DeWitt Proctor (Norfolk, Virginia, July 13, 1921 – Mount Vernon, Iowa, May 22, 1997) was an African American minister, educator, and humanitarian. He was active in the African-American Civil Rights Movement (1955–1968) and is perhaps best known as a mentor and friend of Martin Luther King, Jr.
