For the 19th-century saint, see Charbel Makhluf.Saints Sarbel and Barbe (or Sarbelius and Barbæa, Sharbil and Babai, etc.) were legendary Christian martyrs of the city Edessa in Mesopotamia. Allegedly Sarbel was a pagan high priest at Edessa; Barbe was his sister. After converting to Christianity, they were tortured and killed under the Roman emperor Trajan. Their feast day is 29 January.
