Sectator ocyurus, the bluestriped chub, is a species of sea chub native to the Pacific coast of the Americas from Baja California to Peru. It has also been found off of San Diego, California where it inhabits waters warmed by a power plant. This species can be found at depths of from 1 to 12 metres (3.3 to 39.4 ft) over reefs or along drop-offs or walls. It can also be found in open waters and is known to inhabit the waters around floating objects in the sea.
