Simurgh (/ˌsɪˈmərɡ/; Persian: سیمرغ sɪmorγ), also spelled simorgh, simurg, simoorg or simourv, is a benevolent, mythical flying creature. It is sometimes equated with other mythological birds such as Arabic Anqā (عنقاء), Persian Homā (Persian: هما) or Turkic Kerkés, Semrug, Semurg, Samran, and Samruk.
