Sokoine Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Mbeya, Tanzania. It is used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue for Prisons FC and Mbeya United. It holds 10,000 people. It was named Sokoine Stadium after the death of the Prime Minister of Tanzanian Republic in 1984, but was previously named the Mapinduzi Stadium.On 18 August 2011 the stadium was closed for refurbishment works to make the pitch smoother to play on ahead of the Tanzanian First Division league kicking off.
