TeX (/ˈtɛx/ tekh (with the final consonant sounding like Ancient Greek's [kʰ] or English's /x/) but often pronounced /ˈtɛk/ tek in English) is a typesetting system designed and mostly written by Donald Knuth and released in 1978.
