"The Silent Sun" (album title "Silent Sun") is the premiere single by English rock band Genesis. It was written by Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel at a time when the band's potential producer, Jonathan King, was starting to lose interest. Knowing that King was a fan of the Bee Gees, Banks and Gabriel wrote the song specifically to recapture his attention. The band was signed and the song was released as a single on 2 February 1968 (some publications refer to 22 February 1968 - not proved).
