The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) uses buses and other vehicles for public transportation. The TTC has more than 172 bus routes in operation, and serves over 487 million riders each year in 2011. Most bus routes serve the suburban areas of the city, and are integrated with the subway system, and several run into downtown.
