Volker Heine FRS (born 19 September 1930 in Hamburg, Germany) is a New Zealand-British physicist.He was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and the University of Otago, then Clare College, Cambridge where he became a fellow and professor. He obtained his PhD in physics (1956) in Cambridge as student of Sir Nevill Mott.He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1974. He retired in 1997. Awarded the Maxwell Medal and Prize in 1972 and the Max Born Prize in 2001.
