The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is one of two federally recognized tribe of Ho-Chunk Native Americans. The other Ho-Chunk tribe is the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin. The name Winnebago comes from an Algonquin term "People of the Filthy Water."
