Youssoufia is a town in Youssoufia Province, Doukkala-Abda, Morocco. According to the 2004 census it has a population of 64,518. and it is known for its high production of phosphate, an inorganic chemical salt of phosphoric acid. The city was founded in 1931 by the French when they began to exploit the phosphate mine of the Gantour basin. It was then named after a French schoolteacher Louis Gentil.
