Zilla (ジラ Jira), formerly known as Godzilla, is a kaiju that first appeared as the titular character in TriStar Pictures 1998 film Godzilla. It was initially created as a reimagining of Godzilla but was later retconned as a separate stand-alone character, apart from Godzilla, by Toho (the license owners) for future appearances. The character has since appeared in other media as "Zilla."
