The 2006 Players Championship was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour contested from March 23–26 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It was the 33rd Players Championship. Stephen Ames completed the biggest win of his career by a comfortable margin of six strokes from Retief Goosen.This was the final edition of the tournament to be played in March; it moved to a May date for 2007.
