Alessandro Michele is the Creative Director of Gucci. He replaced Frida Giannini who had been in the role since 2006. Michele had worked at Gucci for 12 years before being appointed creative director. Upon being appointed, he created a menswear collection in 5 days. Financial Times reported that choosing Michele as creative director suggests that Kering management wants to boost sales of Gucci's handbags, shoes and leather goods.
