Ambur (Tamil: ஆம்பூர்) Urdu: آمبور‎) is a town and state Assembly Constituency in the Vellore District of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on the banks of the Palar River on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway.Ambur is home to a major part of India's leather tanning industry, earning it the nickname Leather City of South India.
