Anapithecus (pronounced Ana-PITH-i-kuhs; from Greek πίθηκος pithekos "ape") was an Early Miocene primate of the Pliopithecidae family. They had a narrow range over eastern Europe from the Viennese Basin in Austria to northern Hungary. Many of the fossil specimens attributed to this genus were uncovered at the site of Rudabánya, northern Hungary.
