Robert Lee "Bob" Backlund (born August 14, 1949) is an American professional wrestler with an in-ring career spanning over 30 years. He was a two-time WWWF/WWF (World Heavyweight) Champion. Backlund holds the record for the second longest WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign, behind Bruno Sammartino's first. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.Backlund was also an accomplished amateur wrestler for the North Dakota State University Bison from the late 1960s to early 1970s.
