Carbonade flamande, alternatively spelt carbonnade or à la flamande) (in Dutch Stoverij or Stoofvlees), is a traditional Belgian sweet-sour beef and onion stew made with beer, and seasoned with thyme, bay leaves and mustard. Mushrooms or spiced bread can also be added.
