Charsadda (Pashto: چارسده) is a town and headquarters of Charsadda District, in the Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is at an altitude of 276 metres (906 ft) and lies 29 kilometres (18 mi) from the provincial capital of Peshawar. District Charsadda consists of two main geographical parts: Hashtnagar (Pushto: Ashnaghar) and Do Aaba (Pushto: Duava). The city hosts the ruins of what was once the ancient Gandharan city of Pushkalavati, home of the Sanskrit grammarian Pāṇini.
