Geoffrey Wayne Rice (born 1946) is a retired Professor of History at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He served as Head of the School of History from 2006 to 2011, before retiring in 2012.Professor Rice studied at the University of Canterbury during from 1965 to 1969, and was the first person to be awarded a History PhD by the University of Canterbury in 1974.
