Gopal Chhotray (1916–22 January 2003) was born in Puranagarh village of Jagatsinghpur district in Odisha, India. He was a pioneer of the modern trend in Odia drama. He was an Odia author known for his contribution to musical and radio drama.Chhotray was a keen observer and witness of all special features of Odishan society and tradition. Immensely popular and prolific, most of his themes and plots have a social bearing.
