Joanne G. Galbraith is the current mayor of Bakersfield, California, serving her fourth term, having last been re-elected in June 2012. Galbraith was first elected in 2000, and first re-elected in 2004. One of her focuses as mayor has been beautification, through "Keep Bakersfield Beautiful" and the creation of, and participation in, monthly "Mayor’s Freeway Cleanups", trash pickups on local freeways.
