Hiberno‐English or Irish English is the set of English dialects natively written and spoken within the Republic of Ireland as well as Northern Ireland. It comprises a number of sub-varieties; for example, mid Ulster English, local Dublin English, supraregional Irish English, and Cork English.English was brought to Ireland as a result of the Norman invasion of the late 12th century.
