James "Jimmy" McConnell (23 February 1899 – 1949) was a Scottish professional footballer born in Ayr who played as a centre forward in the Football League for Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United.McConnell began his football career following service during World War I. In June 1920, he played one game, scoring one goal, for Kilmarnock F.C. In February 1921, he joined Stevenston United F.C. In May 1921, his professional career began with Nithsdale Wanderers.
