Kittitas is a city in Kittitas County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. The population was 1,450 at 2012 Estimate from Office of Financial Management.There are numerous interpretations of the name, which is from the language of the Kittitas American Indian language. According to one source, it "has been said to mean everything from 'white chalk' to 'shale rock' to 'shoal people' to 'land of beauty'.
