Madesimo (once known as Isolato) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Sondrio in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) north of Milan and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Sondrio, on the border with Switzerland.Madesimo borders the following municipalities: Campodolcino, Ferrera (Switzerland), Medels im Rheinwald (Switzerland), Mesocco (Switzerland), Piuro, Splügen (Switzerland), Sufers (Switzerland).Madesimo is a popular place for winter sports, and offers a variety of slopes an hills for both skiing and snowboarding.
