Mark 1 is the first chapter of the Gospel of Mark of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. It begins "The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God" (in the NIV translation) stating right from the start Mark's belief. However, because there is no article in the Koine Greek some have suggested (ιησου χριστου υιου του θεου 1:1) be translated "...a Son of God".
