Michael Joseph Morell (born September 4, 1958) was the deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency and served as acting director twice in 2011 and from 2012 to 2013. Morell retired from his post on August 9, 2013, to devote more time to his family and to pursue other professional opportunities. As of 2014, Morell is CBS News' Senior Security Correspondent.Morell's 2015 book is The Great War of Our Time; The CIA's Fight Against Terrorism--From al Qa'ida to ISIS.
