Neal Joseph Smatresk, PhD (pronounced SMAH-tresk; born 9 July 1951 New York), is an American academic research biologist, physiologist, and university president, who, on February 3, 2014, became President of the University of North Texas, Denton. He had been President of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a position he had held since August 6, 2009. At age sixty-four, Smatresk is in his thirty-fourth year as an academician in higher education.
