New Perlican is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The town had a population of 188 in the Canada 2006 Census. Black and gray shales of the Precambrian era underlie the town. The main soil is a stony loam podzol of the Turk's Cove series. The vegetation is a complex of coniferous forest (mainly Balsam Fir) and heath barren.New Perlican is one of the oldest settlements in the province.
