Sir Arthur Nicholas Winston Soames (born 12 February 1948) is a British Conservative Party Member of Parliament for the constituency of Mid Sussex. He is a grandson of the former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.Soames is a former Defence minister having served in the government of John Major (1994–97). His main political interests are defence, international relations, rural affairs and industry. He is also chairman of the private security contractor Aegis.
