The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) was established in South Africa to promote multilingualism and language rights as well as to develop the official languages of South Africa. The body was established through an Act of parliament (59 of 1995, amended by Act 10 of 1999).The official languages of the Republic of South Africa are Northern Sotho, Sotho, Tswana, Swazi, Venda, Tsonga, Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Xhosa and Zulu.
