The Peloponnese (/ˈpɛləpəˌniːz/) or Peloponnesus (/ˌpɛləpəˈniːsəs/; Greek: Πελοπόννησος, Pelopónnēsos; see also list of Greek place names) is a peninsula and geographic region in southern Greece. It is separated from the central part of the country by the Gulf of Corinth.
