Sengapadai (Tamil: செங்கப்படை) is a village 30 km southwest of Madurai city and 10 km southwest of Thirumangalm.The village was created by Koon Pandiyan (Tamil: கூன் பாண்டியன்), a Pandiya King in the banks of Gounda River as a military base. During earlier period the village was known as Sengol Padai (Tamil: செங்கோல் படை), (English: Military of Throne) which later became Sengappadai.
