The Sharjah Museums Department, established in 2006 by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aims to promote the emirate's legacy of arts, heritage and culture. Sharjah Museums Department is member of the Global Cultural Districts Network.The Sharjah Museums Department was established in 2006 by His Highness the Ruler as an independent government department affiliated to the Ruler’s Office.
