Steinkjer is a city and municipality in the Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Innherad region. The city is located on the inner part of the Trondheim fjordSteinkjer is the largest city in the county and the municipality is the county's second most populous after it was passed by Stjørdal in 2008.
