In baking and pastry making, streusel (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtʁɔʏzəl]) is a crumbly topping of flour, butter, and sugar that is baked on top of muffins, breads, pies, and cakes. Some modern recipes add spices and chopped nutmeats.
