Suryapet /ˈsuːrjɑːpeɪtə/(also known as Bhanupuri) is a major town and municipality in Nalgonda district in the Indian state of Telangana. Suryapet town has historical recognition as Gate Way of Telangana. It is sometimes referred as Bhanupuri. It lies on the National Highway 65 and is equidistant from the Hyderabad and Vijayawada.Suryapet is India's first 'Waste-Compliant'city. Suryapet municipality has won Green Leaf Award for Best Garbage Disposal in 2007.
