Tania Singer (born in 1969 in Munich, Germany) is the director of the Department of Social Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. Her research focuses on the developmental, neuronal, and hormonal mechanisms underlying human social behaviour and she is recognised as a world expert on empathy.
