The Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball team represents Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, United States in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition (the school's women's basketball team is known as the "Lady Raiders".) The team is currently coached by Tubby Smith, who replaced Billy Gillispie after he resigned under pressure due to allegations of player mistreatment. Prior to Gillispie being named coach, the coach was Pat Knight who succeeded his father, Hall of Famer Bob Knight.
