TextSecure is an advanced end-to-end encryption protocol as well as a free and open-source encrypted instant messaging application for Android which uses that protocol. TextSecure enables the secure transmission of instant messages, group messages, attachments and media messages to other TextSecure users. Users can independently verify the identity of their correspondents by comparing key fingerprints out-of-band or by scanning QR codes in person.
