The Perfect Banquet is a 2004 Chinese television comedy-drama starring Xu Zheng as a young Zhang Dongguan, a famous chef in the Qing dynasty imperial palace during the Qianlong Emperor's reign. Some parts are based on the few extant historical sources on Zhang Dongguan, as well as major historical events, but most of the story is fictional.Filming began in March 2004 in Wuxi. The series was first broadcast in Taiwan on Eastern Television in October 2004.
