These Open Fields is the second official full-length release from Chicago intelligent dance music (IDM) artist The Flashbulb (real name, Benn Jordan). The album displays a significant maturation from the first release, M³. The album has a central theme, unlike the playful experimentation of M³. Inspired by the death of Jordan's grandfather, it has a darker, more coherent tone.This was the unofficial first release on Jordan's struggling new upstart label, Alphabasic.
