Ajit Sarkar (Bengali: অজিত সরকার) (1947 – 14 June 1998) was Indian politician who was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was the member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly for Purnia constituency four times from 1980 until his murder in 1998. He entered politics through the Students' Federation of India, the CPM’s youth wing, and is still remembered in these parts as a firebrand leader who took up the cause of the landless and the poor.
