Borys Yevhenovych Paton (Ukrainian: Борис Євгенович Патон) (born November 27, 1918) is the long-term chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He was born in Kiev. Paton joined the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on November 18, 1958 and is the first person to have been awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine.He holds a doctoral degree in technical sciences and is known for his works in electric welding.
