John Chadwick "Chad" Barefoot (born c. 1983) is the state senator from North Carolina's 18th district. A native of Thomasville, he won his first election in 2012. The district covers parts of eastern Wake and Franklin counties. Sen. Barefoot sits on six committees during the 2013-14 session of the North Carolina General Assembly. They include the Appropriations Committee on Education/Higher Education. He is also vice-chair of the Education/Higher Education policy committee.
