The Plough-breaker (Erythrina zeyheri, named after Karl Zeyher) is a deciduous subshrub from South Africa and Lesotho growing no more than 60 cm tall. It is a member of the Fabaceae that occurs naturally on South Africa's central plateau. They occur in grassland, and favour clay soil in the vicinity of creeks and marshes and often form colonies.The glabrous, trifoliolate leaves have large leaflets armed with recurved spines along the rachis and main venation, which is prominently raised below.
